Happenings

  • Tommy Puck, a man arrested for torturous experiments of which Lana nearly became subject to, is released from prison. He was test subject to an antidote for a deadly virus he was infected with. Because it failed, he is dying and given a full pardon, taking it as an opportunity to redeem himself.
  • Lana dates a man named Adam Verrell. He is responsible for installing giant TVs around Capital City. While under the pretence of inspiring positive feelings, they are subliminally triggering people into manic episodes. It's built from the technology developed by Tommy Puck. He tries to get Puck to help him improve it.
  • Verrell puts something in Lana's drink that causes her to collapse. He then accuses Superboy of murdering her.

The Show

Behind the Scenes

  • The original idea for this two-parter revolved around Lex Luthor trying to be good, but there was a scheduling conflict with Sherman Howard. Thus, the script was rewritten to replace Lex with the new character of Tommy Puck (hence references to Lana's earlier encounter with him).
  • David Nutter knew Miguel Ferrer who was excited about learning he worked on the show and was eager to guest star. However, the schedule for his work on On the Air was over by a day and so it had to be recast.
