Race Overview

Teams take an exhilarating ride across a 300-foot zip line in Brazil in order to receive their next clue instructing them to fly to Moscow, Russia. While on the zip line, one racer's nerves get the best of her. A deep water phobia paralyzes another racer who is afraid of drowning during a challenge and, encouraged by the other teams, another racer jumps off a high dive despite their inability to swim. Frustration mounts when teams have difficulty searching for a clue buried inside thousands of Russian nesting dolls.

Start

  • Primaverra da Serra, a coffee plantation in Brotas, Brazil.
    • The teams are given a clue hours after arriving in the previous episode.
      • 4:48 - BJ & Tyler
      • 5:01 - Eric & Jeremy
      • 5:18 - Joseph & Monica
      • 5:28 - David & Lori
      • 6:31 - Ray & Yolanda
      • 6:32 - Wanda & Desiree
      • 7:06 - Lake & Michelle
      • 7:07 - Danielle & Dani
      • 8:24 - Fran & Barry
    • The teams receive $307 for this leg of the race.
  • The teams are directed 3 miles to a 300 foot zipline across a valley.
    • They are told to look for kilometer marker 114 on highway 225.
    • Once there the zipline does not open until 7 AM.
      • The teams complete the zipline in the following order:
        • BJ & Tyler, Eric & Jeremy, Monica & Joseph, David & Lori, Ray & Yolanda, Wanda & Desiree, Dani & Danielle, Lake & Michelle, Fran & Barry
  • The next clue directs them to the Brotas Bus Depot where they will take one of three chartered busses to the Sao Palao Air Port.
    • BJ & Tyler, Eric & Jeremy, Monica & Joseph and David & Lori take the 9:15 AM bus.
    • Ray & Yolanda, Wanda & Desiree, Danielle & Dani and Lake & Michelle all take the 10 AM bus.
    • Fran & Barry are the only team on the 10:45 AM bus.
  • Their next destination is Moscow, Russia.
    • Once at the Sao Palao Air Port all teams take the same flight on Lufthansa to Moscow with a connector in Frankfurt.
  • Once in Russia teams travel to the Chaka Bassein for the Road Block.

Road Block

  • Plunge 10 Meters
    • The clue is "Who's ready for a plunge?"
    • The racers must put on a swimsuit that has been provided and climb the 10 meter diving board. Once there they must jump into the water, swim to the other side of the pool and dive down to the clues.
      • Tyler, Barry, Yolanda, Lake, Eric, Dani, Monica, Lori, and Wanda all take the task.
  • The next clue directs them to travel 3 miles to the Novodevichniy Monastery and the Cathedral of the Virgin of Smolensk.
  • Once at the Cathedral teams receive the Detour clue.

Detour

  • Scrub
    • Teams must travel to a trolley depot at 8 Trolley Park. Once there they must clean an entire trolley. When the trolley driver is satisfied that the trolley is clean they will receive their clue.
      • BJ & Tyler, Lake & Michelle, Eric & Jeremy and Fran & Barry.
        • Initially choose this task but are unable to find it and switch
      • Wanda & Desiree, Dani & Danielle, Monica & Joseph and Dave & Lori choose this Detour.
  • Scour
    • Teams must travel to a theater. Once there they will have to search 1500 Russian nesting dolls for 1 of 10 microscopic clues.
      • Eric & Jeremy, Lake & Michelle, Ray & Yolanda, BJ & Tyler and Fran & Barry choose this detour.
        • All but Fran & Barry find their clues before the episode ends.
  • The clue directs the teams to Red Square and Saint Basil's Cathedrel.

Pit Stop

  • Saint Basil's Cathedral in Red Square.
    • Eric & Jeremy are the first team to arrive, however this is not the end of the leg and they are instructed to continue racing.

Next Time

  • Fran & Barry have trouble with the Detour
  • Wanda & Desiree lose patience with each other.
  • Eric & Jeremy have a smashing good time.
  • Teams risk their lives on the "Wall of Death".
