The Milton The Monster Show
The Milton The Monster Show was an animated comedy airing Saturday mornings on ABC.
Inspired in most part by Frankenstein and in smaller part by Gomer Pyle USMC, the origins had a mad scientist, Professor Weirdo and his vampire assistant Count Kook creating a monster with ingredients Essence of Terror and Sinister Sauce. He had to add a "tincture" (a drop) of tenderness to keep the monster from turning on him, but Count Kook accidentally knocked the entire contents in. As the monster congealed and came to life, he was extremely simple-minded, or as the theme intones, "he's just a big kid."
Other features of the show, airing in round-robin fashion were Fearless Fly, an insect superhero that came a couple of weeks after Hanna-Barbera's Atom Ant; Stuffy Derma, a millionaire hobo; Muggy-Doo, Boy Fox (which Seeger developed in the early 1950s as a comic book under the name Muggy-Doo, Boy Cat--Seeger would make an animated pilot in 1963); Flukey Luke, an inept cowboy detective; and mischeivous little Penny Penguin.
The Milton The Monster Show was originally produced in 1964 but its debut was delayed until October 1965.
