Titus — Season Two

Titus Is Dead is the first episode of the second season of Titus, and the tenth episode overall. Ken declares that Titus is dead to him after Titus accidentally gave him a heart attack.

Plot Overview

Opening Monologue

I gave my father a heart attack. It was practical joke! You push a guy's face in cake; he's got to clean his face. You hit a guy with a water balloon, he's got to dry off. A guy's in a hospital, you get his testicles shaved, he scratches and bleeds for a week. It's funny! You're not supposed to have a heart attack. It kills the joke.

My dad is all I ever had. When I was 3 and 4, my mom used to take me to bars with her. I understand why. Babysitter cost like a beer, beer and a half an hour. In a heinous world where bad things happen, you need to be protected by someone bad and heinous. I call him Daddy.

The Show

After nearly killing his father, Titus goes to apologize once Ken is well enough for visitors, but Ken announces that Titus is dead to him and locks him out of the house. While Dave mocks him from behind the locked front door, Titus gets in from around back but is kicked out again. They get into an argument, but it is broken up by Ken's nurse who instructs Ken to not talk to his son.

Once Titus realizes that nothing he does will sway his father, he calls in Erin to help him. She begs Ken to do whatever it takes to forgive his son... So he punches Titus in the face. While cleaning Titus' wound, the nurse reveals that she has been having sex with Ken, much to the shock and horror of everyone (except Dave).

Titus and Dave attempt to convince Ken that dating the nurse is a bad idea because all of the women he starts a meaningful relationship with wind up trying to kill him. Instead of following Titus' advice, he decides instead to propose to the nurse.

• 1x09 - Episode Eleven: Titus gave his father a heart attack in the final episode of the first season. The beginning segment of the episode picks up directly after doctors stabilized Ken's heart.

Allusions and References

• Jimi Hendrix: Jimi Hendrix was a rock musician, guitarist and lead member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He wrote and performed some of the most well known rock songs from the 1960s including Purple Haze and Fire. Hendrix died on September 18, 1970 after combining wine and sleeping pills, then asphyxiating in his sleep on his own vomit.
