Plot Overview

Veronica goes with Logan to visit Duncan only to find Kendall Casablancas in Duncan's shower. Outraged, she storms off and confronts him about it the next day at school. They get into a loud fight in the parking lot on the way in to school and Duncan breaks up with Veronica.

Veronica, shocked, goes home to listen to sad music and tear up her photos of Duncan. Wallace goes over to try to cheer her up but before he can the police come by. They tell Veronica that Duncan kidnapped Meg's daughter and is now missing. Veronica's shock only depends when the police arrest her as an accomplice.

An LA jeweler picks Veronica out of a lineup, saying Veronica sold her Celeste Kane's earrings. Veronica says she was trying to get money to hire a lawyer so they could get the baby legally. Keith tells Veronica to cooperate fully with Sheriff Lamb, which she does. Celeste hires detective Vinnie Van Lowe to find Duncan. Van Lowe is sure that Veronica is hiding Duncan and follows her around. Veronica gives Van Lowe a note to give to Duncan if he sees him.

The FBI comes to Neptune. Veronica tells them that Duncan has a .Mac account; they get a warrant and find he purchased a boat. The Coast Guard searches the boat but finds it empty, with only diapers and Spaghetti-Os.

Veronica receives a call from Duncan. She tells him to turn himself in; Duncan is angry and hangs up. The FBI traces the call to Big Bear and goes to investigate, leaving Lamb behind. Lamb, angry at being snubbed, hears that Veronica's ATM card has been used in Mexico and takes off by himself to apprehend her.

Meanwhile, Veronica heads home but at the last minute, after checking around her, enters the apartment next door, where Duncan is hiding out with the baby. They have a tearful goodbye and say they can never speak to each other again.

Keith Mars discovers diapers in Veronica's room, yells at Veronica for having played him and endangered herself, and says he can never trust her again. The FBI busts in and searches Veronica's room but finds nothing. They reveal that they found out that the manager of the condo in Big Bear said he showed the unit to a cute blonde girl and found a tape recording of Duncan's call to Veronica in the trash. Neither Keith nor Veronica break, however, and the FBI leaves.

Sheriff Lamb is waved through the Mexico border check he ordered and runs from building to building searching for Duncan. When he drives over the train tracks, he notices his trunk has popped open. Inside, he finds snacks and bottled water. Duncan has escaped and is disguised as a hitchhiker. He stops a truck and gets inside. Duncan hands the driver, Vinnie Van Lowe, $30,000. "Whoo, you pay better than your mom," Vinnie says. Duncan removes his disguise and turns to Astrid who is holding the baby, who Duncan calls Lily. "She thinks you're Veronica," Duncan says. "Yeah, so does the FBI," replies Astrid. The four of them ride into the sunset, while Veronica posts a fortune saying "TRUE LOVE STORIES NEVER END" to her wall.

Notes

Felix's Murder

  • Weevil and Logan try to search for the PCHer connected to the Fitzpatricks. Logan asks Dick to get E, Dick asks Hector, but just turns around and asks another 09er. Logan asks Weevil if the Fitzpatrick connection could possibly be Felix but Weevil says its impossible, since Felix's older brother was killed by the Fitzpatrick's. However, Weevil's tattoo artist tells him that Felix asked to get a tatto of Molly Fitzpatrick just before he died.

She confronts Wallace who tells her that he fled Chicago because he was in a car with the country's star player, Rashard, when he was drunk and hit a wino. He couldn't muster the courage to turn Rashard in so he fled instead. A reporter from the Chicago papers later confronts Wallace about the incident.
