WTOG is an independent station in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida (Tampa Bay), owned by Paramount Global as part of its CBS News and Stations division. The station broadcasts on digital channel 19, displaying via PSIP as virtual 44.

History

The station first began in 1968 as an independent station. In 1986, the station originally joined the FOX network, then in 1988 the station lost FOX to WFTS-TV channel 28 and returned to independent. In 1993, the station picked up PTEN as the area's affiliate. In 1995, the station dropped PTEN and became a UPN affiliate, then in 2006, UPN and The WB shut down and created The CW and made it become the station's new affiliate for the network.

On September 1, 2023, WTOG, formerly an owned-and-operated CW station, reverted to independent status along with seven other former CW stations Paramount Global owns. The Tampa CW affiliation moved over to Nexstar Media Group-owned WTTA on the same day, thereby making WTTA the new CW O&O in the area due to Nexstar's majority ownership of the CW.
