Emergency +4 is an animated series that aired on NBC.
A cartoon spin off of the live action 1972-1977 series Emergency!. In this version, which is primarily for kids, John Gage and Roy DeSoto of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Rescue Squad 51 are aided by an ambulance crew composed of four young teenagers, accompanied by a dog named Flash, a monkey named Bananas, and a mynah bird named Charlemagne.
Gage and DeSoto, assisted by the youngsters and their trained pets, go on calls to rescue people in peril from natural disasters, fires on land and at sea and medical emergencies. As part of the show, instructional safety tips (such as mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and basic first aid) and do's and don'ts were included in each episode's storyline.
