NBCUniversal Syndication Studios (NUSS), formerly NBCUniversal Television Distribution (NUTD) until March 2021, is the distribution unit of Universal Television and NBC, both divisions of NBCUniversal.
NUSS was formed on September 13, 2004 through the merger of NBC Enterprises (the distribution unit of General Electric's NBC) and Universal Domestic Television (owned by Vivendi Universal). It is the successor to previous distribution companies owned by NBC or by VU and its predecessors.
NUSS holds the TV distribution rights to its own first-run syndicated series, as well as library programming from its predecessor and current sister companies:
- Revue Studios
- Universal Television/Universal Network Television
- MCA Television
- EMKA Ltd. (the copyright holder for most of the pre-1950 Paramount Pictures catalogue, which NBCUniversal predecessor MCA acquired in 1957)
- MTE
- Avco Program Sales/Multimedia Entertainment
- Studios USA
- USA Cable Entertainment
- PolyGram Television
- Universal Animation Studios (TV rights for feature films and TV series produced by that studio)
- Universal Media Studios
- Universal Cable/Content Productions
- Post-April 1973 NBC/NBC Productions/NBC Studios (most shows; some post-1973 NBC-produced shows, such as Little House on the Prairie, have their rights in the United States held by CBS Media Ventures due to that company's predecessors holding those rights because of pre-1993 FCC fin-syn rules)
- NBC Enterprises
- NBC Universal Television
- Peacock Productions
NUSS is also the distributor for TV series acquired from the following companies and entities:
- Alan Landsburg Productions/Reeves Entertainment Group (US distribution only; international distribution is handled by Fremantle due to that company's ownership of the ALP/REG catalogue through Thames Television)
- Endemol USA
NBCUniversal Global Distribution (formerly MCA Television International, Universal Worldwide Television and NBCUniversal International Television), the international division of NUSS, handles syndication of a majority of the shows it owns the rights to outside of the United States (or North America in some cases) while also handling international distribution of some shows whose syndication rights are owned by other companies in the United States.
