History
In 2017, Sinclair had been in the process of acquiring the Tribune Broadcasting TV stations. In Seattle, Tribune owned the duopoly of KCPQ (FOX) and KZJO (MyNetworkTV), both of which were ultimately sold to Fox Television Stations in 2020 to become the O&O stations of their respective networks. Sinclair was to have bought KZJO and then sold KUNS to partner company Howard Stirk Holdings, with Sinclair continuing to manage the station under local marketing and shared services agreements. Sinclair's acquisition of Tribune being cancelled in August 2018 resulted in the sale of KUNS being called off.
