Season Two of Mystery Science Theater 3000 premiered on September 22, 1990. The sets were redesigned again, with a large viewing screen added to the side of the Satellite of Love so the crew could communicate with various vistors. TV's Frank, played by Frank Conniff, was introduced as Dr. Forrester's new sidekick and replacement for Dr. Erhardt. The phrase "Turn down your lights (where applicable)" was added to the beginning of the show and the phrase "Keep circulating the tapes" was added to the end credits.
On April 1, 1991, The Comedy Channel merged with its direct competitor, Ha!, to form Comedy Central. Mystery Science Theater 3000 was one of the shows selected to make the jump to the new network.
