The Accountants is the first season of The Office webisodes. The series of shorts premiered on NBC's website on July 13, 2006 and ran weekly until September 7th. The episodes star Angela, Oscar and Kevin from the accounting department with some minor guest appearances from other cast members. Aside from Dwight, none of the billed characters appear.
The episodes were all written by Michael Schur and Paul Lieberstein, who won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Broadband Program - Comedy. It also won the "Comedy Short Award" during the Webby Awards in 2007.
However, the episodes have become a point of contention during the WGA strike because the series was considered to be a "promotion." As such, the network has not paid any of the writers or cast members royalties on their work. Schur and Lieberstein even commented in a video of the picketing that they had to pay for their own Emmys.
