Season Three of The Scooby-Doo Show premiered on September 9, 1972, and was the first of two seasons to air under the title The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
While this series follows a format similar to the previous seasons, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You, it differs in two ways - the show doubled in length to 60 minutes, and each episode featured celebrity guests in the form of animated versions of real people, like Don Knotts and the Harlem Globetrotters, or fictional characters from other cartoons, like Batman and Robin and the Addams Family. In some cases where animated versions of deceased or retired celebrities (like The Three Stooges or Laurel and Hardy) appeared, celebrity impersonators provided their voices.
The first season episodes were animated in Hollywood while season two was made in Australia. Hanna-Barbera Productions produced the series, with distribution originally by Taft Broadcasting (today controlled by Warner Bros. Television).
