The TV IV:Proposals/Featured Show (September 2006)

From The TV IV
Jump to: navigation, search

Let's get back to doing this. The TVIV Awards has been on the front page for long enough, and the user-contribution phase is over anyways. That will be over at the end of the month and we need to get back to having featured shows. September is premieres of fall/winter shows. But to make this work you have to actually contribute by taking 2 minutes of your time to vote. I'll start:

Voting will be open until August 31.

  • Pretty solid procedural show. It starts early, at the end of August, so it will be on all of September. --MateoP 12:57, 8 August 2006 (EDT)
  • I'm not opposed to featuring it ever, but I don't think it's a good idea to feature it now. From what I remember the last time I saw the stats (please correct me if I'm wrong), it's not one of our most popular shows, even amongst its genre, and with the new fall season starting, we have a golden opportunity to bring in new readership with returning shows which are more popular or new shows which are likely to be more popular. If we're going to make a returning show the featured show, we'd probably be better off going with something much more popular and searched-for right now, like Grey's Anatomy (although that debuts in late September) or, if we really want FOX, Prison Break (one of our most searched-for shows, now filled in pretty well, and it also debuts in August and will be on all through September). Even if we go with a less popular show, it should probably be something very, very popular amongst a highly select subsection of TV viewers, like The Venture Bros. is with animation fans, although even that I'd prefer to hold off on until another time. --JCaesar 20:28, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

  • Seen the pilot looks very interesting. Dare I say its refreshing to see something other than a forensic/cop/medical drama. Think that alone deserves some support. --Philipio
  • Aside from the fact that it's different from other shows, both it and 30 Rock look to be very, very well done. I liked The West Wing's character development, but it seemed to get bogged down in heavy-handed preachiness, even in its best days, and the less political subject matter (like what they had with Sports Night) ought to solve that problem pretty well. To say nothing the fact that it probably has one of the best casts I've ever heard of for a pilot ever. -- JCaesar 20:28, 9 August 2006 (EDT)
  • This has easilly one of the best pilots I've seen in a while and the return of Aaron Sorkin penned episodes to television is something to be celebrated, as far as I'm concerned. --IndieRockLance 20:34, 9 August 2006 (EDT)
  • This show doesn't premiere until the 18th probably better to feature something that will be on more than twice in the month. Most FOX shows and and a good number of cable shows will be on the whole month.The-jam 20:52, 9 August 2006 (EDT)
    • I hadn't seen the premiere date, but you're right. Consider my vote changed. JCaesar 22:32, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

  • The show has had an excellent run of episodes lately, and it should be wrapping up the season sometime in September/October. It's also a series that we have a relatively complete episode guide for (I should finish up 20 Years to Midnight sometime this week when I'm not working overtime). -- Lampbane 13:24, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

  • It's quite popular, already draws traffic to the site, has been filled out fairly well this summer and airs throughout the month.The-jam 21:07, 9 August 2006 (EDT)
  • As I recall, it's in the Top Five of most searched-for shows which brings in traffic. Good enough for me. JCaesar 22:32, 9 August 2006 (EDT)
  • It's one of the shows I'm looking most forward to watching this season since it starts before all the other shows, and it gives me something to watch before the fall season starts, so it gets my vote. Rvb strongbad 01:22, 10 August 2006 (EDT)
  • Honestly, I just don't like the show. The most interesting part was the build up to breaking out, with the low points being the silly conspiracy and "the company" that is apparently ruling all our lives. Now that they've broken out, all we're left with is the conspiracy and I doubt that the show will hold up to the decent first season. --IndieRockLance 20:03, 10 August 2006 (EDT)
  • I too am really looking foward to this coming back and can't wait to see what happens to the escapees after what happened in the first season finale. It's definitely a must-see for the fall season and deserves to be the featured show for September. HuskersRule 01:46, 16 August 2006 (EDT)
