Plot Overview

As Alexandria continues to battle the storm, Maggie and the others fight to stay alive as Leah leads the remaining Reapers to hunt them down.

Happenings

• The fire at Alexandria is dealt with and Aaron helps Judith and Gracie.

• Daryl uses Carver as barter for Leah and the Reapers to leave. The Reapers seem to get the upper hand via a sniper until he's taken out by Gabriel. They then agree to leave, but Maggie then takes out the remaining Reapers save for Leah who she non-fatally shoots.

• Maggie and the others return with the food to Alexandria.

• Eugene returns with the Commonwealth. Hornsby offers Alexandria the materials and resources they need to rebuild, but also proposes what they feel is a better offer. We aren't privy to what this is, but 6 months later Maggie is back at Hilltop, along with Elijah, when the Commonwealth shows up. She doesn't look happy to see them, even when one of the soldiers is revealed to be Daryl.

Characters

• Maggie returns for Alden, only to find he was killed by a Reaper and has to put down him down.

• Carver is responsible for killing Elijah's sister and gets his revenge when Maggie kills him.

• Leah escapes Maggie injured, but alive. While not face-to-face, Daryl laments how she turned down a second chance and just urges her to go.

• Fearing Maggie will kill him, Negan decides to leave.

Behind the Scenes

• Lauren Cohan did her own stunts for this episode.

• In the scene when where Lydia and Rosita are clearing walkers on the stairs, McClincy accidentally hit Serratos in the shoulder, causing her to yell "fuck" in pain. This take was kept in, uncensored.

Goofs

• One again, Hershel's name is spelled "Hershell" in the closing credits.

• Mancea: That's far enough. I can't let you harm one of my flock.

Gabriel: Worry about yourself first.

Mancea: God will stay your hand. Just like he did at the graves yesterday.

Gabriel: You knew I was there?

Mancea: The Lord did. He told me I had nothing to fear.

Gabriel: You hear him?

Mancea: I do.

Gabriel: And he tells you to defend these people?

Mancea: His hand guides my every step.

Gabriel: These are monsters who slaughter entire towns without provocation. Massacre children. And you pray for them?! How could God speak to you?

Mancea: My role is not to question. I listen and serve.

Gabriel: Just following orders, huh? Where have I heard that before?

Mancea: True faith requires doubt and I have mine. Violence is not the path I'd take, but blood has been spilt in God's name for centuries. His will is unknown to us. All I can do is trust in Him.

Gabriel: God wouldn't allow you to murder my friends and neither will I. Move aside.

Mancea: You don't hear him anymore, do you?

Gabriel: My flock is worth saving.

Mancea: Is that your choice or His? Do you even listen anymore? Listen. He's here with us right now. Asking you to hear him again. Will you? Or will you cut down a man that he's placed in your path? The path of peace is hard. But we can take the first steps together, for both of our flocks. Take my hand. Renew your faith. Allow yourself to be saved. No matter what any of us have done, no one is above saving.

(gunshots can be heard and Gabriel stabs Mancea in the chest)

Gabriel: I don't believe that.
