Plot Overview
Lister gets a letter offering to review his case, the outcome of which would influence the cases of those in situations similar to his, including Rimmer. Rimmer is thrilled!
On the way back from a Canary mission, Kryten grouses about having to shower with the women ... naked, foamy women. Of course, this halts all male conversation in the transport. The other prisoners ask him to take video of the women for them to see, but he flatly refuses on moral grounds and stomps off to sit with the women.
Some time later, back in the Tank Kryten is mugged (hit in the head with a spanner) and re-programmed. In the theatre that night the regular movie is interrupted for Woman's Shower Night -- a video feed live from the women's showers -- hosted by none other than Kryten himself. Lister turns to leave, worried that participating in this could hurt his chances for appeal. However, he halts in his tracks when he hears, Kristine Kochanski's name. He cannot tear himself away, and continues to watch for another three hours!
The next day, in Kryten's "office" Lister confronts him, but Kryten is now behaving like a sleazy talent agent and doesn't seem to care. When Kochanski enters his office, Lister tells her as well. Later that day Kryten comes to Lister's and Rimmer's cell, telling them that he was kicked out of the women's wing for what he did. He also has news that Kochanski has a new boyfriend (her ex-boyfriend Tim). He's taking her to the officer's club tonight, but Kryten has a plan to foil their date.
Following Kryten's directions, Lister sneaks out of the Tank and into Tim's quarters. He wrecks the place: bacon on the light bulb, strategically placed christian rock music albums, etc. He hangs a monkey-on-the-toilet poster, and place bits of lingerie, half-eaten food, and crumbs between the bed sheets. To top it off, Lister embeds pubic hair clippings (his own) into the soap.
Relieved to have finished, he exits through the front door only to find Kryten waiting for him in disguise. Kryten closes the door to point out that Lister hasn't trashed Tim's quarters, he's just trashed Warden Ackerman's quarters. While Lister frantically tries to get back into the quarters through the now-locked door, Kryten announces, "Woops! You've been Krytered!"
Unable to reenter though the door, Rimmer races to the rescue by helping Lister climb back through the vents and race against time to clean Ackerman's quarters, while the inmates in the theatre roar with laughter. With Rimmer's help Lister is able to finish tidying up before Ackerman returns. Exhausted, they make their way back to the tank.
Some time later back in the Tank, Lister receives a letter: his appeal has succeeded: he is to be allowed to have strings for his guitar. Rimmer didn't know that he was fighting for guitar strings when he helped Lister clean Ackerman's quarters. He thought the appeal was for their freedom. Lister, however, is thankful that Rimmer helped him, and promises to write him a song. Rimmer is less than thrilled.
